REF Rifts Earth Division Timeline Part 1

Just for reference, this timeline includes information from the Robotech novels, comics, and cartoons, Micronauts comics, Palladium Books RPGs, and my own warped mind. This is the official timeline for my campaign. It is subject to revision as new information is added.
c. -115,000 B.C.
The gods of Egypt and Babylonia begin to cultivate an interest in the Flower of Life on Earth, seeing it's unique mystical properties as a way to supplement their own powers, as well as the powers of the ley lines.

c. -100,000 B.C.
Haydon, a race of people that have attained non-corporeal state of being, visits seven planets - Optera, Peryton, Karbarra, Praxis, Garuda, Spheris, and Earth - to engineer an evolution attempt in order to escape this universe and achieve god status and a reason for living.

Haydon battles with the Babylonian and Egyptian gods in an attempt to wrest away the Flower of Life and is successful in removing the plants from North America, South America, Asia, Europe, and most of Africa. Only the plants in Northern Africa and Atlantis are saved from transplantation.

The Flowers of Life are transplanted to Optera. Peryton receives its mental generator. Karbarra is given a peat similar to the Flowers of Life. Praxis' population is genetically engineered to be females, based on the gentic codes of the Earth's Amazon warriors. Garuda's atmosphere is made into a Gaian one, and Haydon IV with its robot population is built as a resting place for Haydon. Only Optera, with its Regis, remembers what Haydon actually looked like.

c. -65,000 B.C. The beginning of the rise of Atlantis as man begins to understand the ways of magic and technology.

Atlanteans begin to discover the mystical properties of the Flower of Life. Gods begin to lose power over the populace of earth as the ley lines are slowly drained away by constant experimentation by man.

c. -12,500 B.C.
Atlantean magic experiments in dimension travel creates a mega-rift stretching from the Yucatan peninsula to the Nile river basin. Ninety-nine percent of the remaining Flowers of Life on Earth are destroyed in the resulting floods, storms, and earthquakes.

Closing the rift drains the Earth's ley lines to the lowest levels in ancient times.

c. -10,500 B.C.
Survivors from Atlantis are led through a rift to Tirol, one of the moons of the faraway planet Fantoma, by Engus, an avatar of the Babylonian god, Marduk.

Construction begins on the Giza Necropolis near the Nile in Egypt. Atlanteans build a series of catacombs under the area, using the secrets of stone magic, and use these tunnels to house the Hall of Records. In the Hall of Records are the remaining specimens of the Flower of Life, along with the secrets to most of their magic and technology.

The Clan Sitari arrives on Tirol with Engus. They continue their magic-using lifestyle, despite knowing the consequences of their actions on earth. The only forbidden practice is the creation of rifts.

670 B.C.
The use of magic is banned after a random rift is accidentally opened by an unsuspecting apprentice. The rift allows a race of demons to invade Tirol. The demons are repelled, but at a great cost. They have lost Engus, who had advised them since before their arrival on Tirol.

The Council of Elders proclaims that they have not learned from their mistakes, and change their entire civilization by outlawing the magic they have relied on for centuries.

Aeon Lanack (AL) begins as the era of Tiresian time. All years from this point are referenced in their history as AL, as we would reference years BC or AD.

501 AD (1171 AL)
Zor is born on Tirol.

586-821 AD (1256-1490 AL)
Quadrant exploration by the Tiresian techno-voyager sleeper ship Azstraph--the Venture.

In the Microverse, Arcturus Rann begins a journey of exploration through the far reaches of the Microverse, and is first exposed to the powers of the Enigma Force.

In the Microverse, Baron Karza discovers the secrets to cloning and begins expanding his power base.

In the Microverse, Baron Karza engages in battle with Dallan Rann, the first Force Commander of Homeworld. Dallan Rann is slain, followed by his wife, Lady Sepsis. Karza, backed by his Acroyear allies, conquers Homeworld and the known inhabited systems in the Microverse.

851 AD (1520 AL)
The Azstraph enters the Tzuptum system and inserts itself into orbit around Optera. Zor encounters the Flower of Life, makes contact with the Invid, and seduces the secrets of the Flower from the Queen Mother, the Regis. The Regis believes Zor to be Haydon returned, and Zor seduces her.

1028 AD (1697 AL)
The Azstraph returns to Tirol. Zor begins to experiment with the Flower specimens he has brought with him from Optera.

The Masters' Protoculture Matrix

The Great Hall of Tiresia

1251-1346 AD (1920 AL - 16 AR)
Development of the spacefold drive.

Aeon Robotech (AR) begins, replacing Aeon Lanack in Tiresian history.

Creation of Tirol's clone population and the development of the Zentraedi.

1418 AD (88 AR)
The defoliation of Optera by the Zentraedi.

1485-1827 AD (157-500 AR)
Engus' remains are exhumed from the Great Hall and are studied for genetic experimentation and cloning. The clone emerges from the Protoculture chambers calling itself Ingues. Ingues is extremely disoriented and is confused. His lack of complete memories and his vast powers combine to make his mind unstable.

A rebellion against the Cult of the Three-in-One is led by Ingues, who tries to wrest control of the Robotech Empire from the Masters. Seemingly insane with delusions of godhood, he leads a civil war, with the support of some of the Zentraedi that he has cloned, along with clones piloting advanced mecha of his own design that differ from the bioroids of the Masters’ Empire. Despite his technological superiority, his forces suffer heavy losses and are eventually forced to retreat. The aftermath of the civil war leads to the exodus of a fraction of the Tiresian military and citizenry, along with a portion of the Zentraedi fleet, all under the command of Ingues. His fleet is never seen again in this dimension.

Consolidation of the empire of the Robotech Masters. The Invid, after a burst of monocellular reproduction, declare war on the Robotech Masters. The Invid use a combination of organic and inorganic technology in their war machine. The Regis chooses to stay at the evolved humanoid form she shared with Zor; the Regent devolves to feel his emotion of revenge.

1893 AD (566 AR)
Zor's voyages deliver him to Haydon IV, where he has a profound encounter with the planetoid's artificial sentience, the Awareness, and realizes the source of the Flower of Life. Zor receives a vision of the Invid transmutation and realizes what he must do.

Zor designs and builds the starship that will come to be called the SDF-1 to carry out his Flower of Life reseeding program (hoping to return the Flower to the planet it had originated from, Earth), and backed by a group of loyal Zentraedi-begins his "quiet rebellion" against the Masters.

Zentraedi commander-in-chief Dolza forms an uneasy alliance with Zor, who has by now become hopelessly addicted to the dried leaves of the Flower.

In an alternate dimension, Ingues’ people face their own internal struggles as his apprentice Tyrus leads his own revolt against the Cult of Ingues. Tyrus, like Ingues before him, is forced to flee with his followers, both Tiresian and Zentraedi, and commandeers Ingues’ original Mothership to make their escape. Ingues gives chase in his new Mothership/base and cripples the vessel as Tyrus’ forces begin their fold.

1907-1967 AD (580-640 AR)
Zor's clandestine seedings attempts take him to Peryton, Karbarra, Praxis, Garuda, and Spheris. The Flower of Life, however, once planted, calls to the Invid across the stars. The Invid Regis engineers the Sensor Nebula to broaden and pinpoint the range of the Invid's awareness of the planets that may have the Flower of Life on them. Each planet makes the Flowers mutate, becoming useless to anyone but the Invid.

1977 AD - 1994 AD
Arcturus Rann, son of Dallan Rann and Lady Sepsis, returns with Biotron from his thousand-year voyage through the Microverse.

Prince Argon dons the sacred armor of the Force Commander to rally the people against Karza.

Rann leads the Micronauts in civil war against Baron Karza.

Argon is defeated by Karza, just as Dallan Rann had been one thousand years before.

Arcturus Rann defeats Karza when his knowledge of the Enigma Force rises from his sub-conscious mind.

The Micronauts struggle to maintain order while battling Karza and his dog soldiers for control of Homeworld and the Microverse.

After several defeats in the Microverse, Baron Karza resigns himself to conquer Earth.

Baron Karza is eventually defeated by the Avengers of the Marvel Universe and is cast into a dimensional gateway by Thor.

1998 AD (671 AR)
Zor steals the single extant Protoculture Matrix from Tiresia and conceals it within the main Reflex drives of the SDF-1. The fortress, with its skeleton crew of loyal Zentraedi, is folded from Tirol's corner of the galaxy.

During a Flower of Life seeding attempt, the Invid takes knowledge of Zor's position and begins a raid. In the threat of the battle fortress falling into the Invid's posession, Zor sends his battle fortress to Earth, manned by a skeleton crew of Zentreadi loyal to him. Zor is killed and Commander Breetai is wounded during the same raid.

Commander-in-chief Dolza orders Commander Reno to return Zor's body to the Robotech Masters on Tirol.

Interstellar war with the Invid, whose homeworld, Optera, had been defoliated by the Zentraedi, continues to chip away at the fringes of the Masters' galactic empire.

In the DC Universe, Wayne Manor disappears during the summer solstice. The Batman is never seen again in the DC Universe.

1999 AD (Robotech Earth)
An alien spaceship crash-lands on Earth, effectively ending almost a decade of global civil war. Originally called "The Visitor," the ship is dubbed Super Dimensional Fortress I--the SDF-1. The starship destroys many cities by its shock wave before it crashes onto Macross Island.

Development of the reconfigurable Veritech Fighter.

On Tirol, Cabell "creates" Rem by cloning tissue from Zor. The Masters, too, have their way with Zor's body, cloning tissue for their own purposes and extracting from the scientist's residual cellular memories a vision of Earth--destination of the fortress and Protoculture matrix he has stolen and spirited from their grasp.
