Who settled Tirol?

Tirol: Moon of Fantoma

From the Research of Dr. Arthur Wellington:
Foremost Terran Authority on the History of Robotechnology

The civilization known as the Robotech Masters appeared seemingly from nowhere. There was no evolutionary path followed as far as we can tell, for there are no indigenous species to Tirol that could have evolved into the humanoid Tiresian population. So where do they come from?

The first thing we did was research the architecture, which immediately gave us something to work with. We found the architecture to be a mixing of traits from the Greeks and the Egyptians.

Pyramids were constructed in ancient times on the face of Tirol. Just as with the pyramids at the Giza Necropolis, these pyramids were "true" pyramids, with absolute perfection achieved as far as block placement, alignment to constellations, and alignment to the true compass points, North, South, East, and West. There are temples combining various aspects of different cultures, much like what has been rumored for many years to have existed on the mythical continent of Atlantis.

But just who was responsible for similar happenings on two planets, light-years apart? Only further research will tell.

Atlantis
Our story begins long ago on Earth on the continent of Atlantis. The Atlanteans had harnessed the powers of magic and psionics and walked alongside the gods themselves. Science and sorcery had become commonplace in their society, with advanced techniques used for construction and architecture that had remained a secret to mortal man into the 20th century and beyond. Ley line technology, stone magic, gem magic, techno-wizardry and dimensional travel were all developed by the Atlanteans during a Golden Age of ancient Earth. Exploration of other dimensions led to alliances with other sentient races, such as the Chiang-Ku Dragons, who shared the secrets of tattoo magic. These alliances led to even more discoveries and developments. The Atlantean civilization grew by leaps and bounds in all ways as their knowledge grew seemingly exponentially, eventually including the mystical properties of the Flower of Life.

Eventually, though, the Atlanteans curiosity would get the best of them. Experimentation with interdimensional travel led to an interest in larger and larger rifts, which would eventually lead to the destruction of their civilization. In approximately 12,500 BC they opened a rift that would link several worlds at once, and the experiment would go tragically wrong.

The mega-rift would be the beginning of the end for the Atlanteans' way of life. Monsters had been unleashed on the land. Diseases had infected the Earth. Floods washed over the lands of Africa and South America. The Flowers of Life were all but destroyed by the storms and earthquakes that had rocked the planet. In short, the Earth was devastated.

For the next two thousand years, Atlantis was rocked by storms and earthquakes as the energies of the ley lines dissipated more and more. So dependent on the mystic energies of the lines were the Atlanteans that they seemed powerless when the repercussions of their actions were felt. Slowly Atlantis was dying.

The Exodus
Atlantis would exist on Rifts Earth for two thousand more years before it's final disappearance into interdimensional limbo. During those years, earthquakes, ley line storms, hurricanes, and floods rocked the mystical continent. During the final days of Atlantis, thousands of Atlanteans fled to other dimensions, other lands, and sometimes, other planets.

Often accompanied by supernatural beings of power, the Atlantean clans settled wherever they could, with the differing goals for all of them. Some tried to keep their ways of magic. Some were not lucky enough to find P.P.E. rich areas and had to rely on their technologies to maintain their culture and way of life. But nearly all of them dedicated themselves to one day returning to Earth.

To leave a record of their existence, some clans built the so-called Hall of Records in the area of the Giza Necropolis. In this Hall of Records, the Atlanteans placed some of the secrets of their technology, as well as samples of the remaining Flowers of Life that had survived both Haydon's attempts to steal the Flower and the storms, floods, and quakes of the cataclysm. This Hall of Records would eventually be discovered in the 21st century, as part of a new Golden Age.

The Fate of Clan Sitari
One of the clans of Atlantis had allied itself with the Babylonian god Marduk during the days leading up to the great cataclysm. Marduk sent one of his avatars, calling him Engus, to lead the Clan Sitari through a rift to safety. But what neither the clan elders nor Marduk had taken into consideration was the nature of the dimensional anomalies that surrounded Atlantis.

They had planned to settle a different dimension, but a planet near the system that the Earth is in. It was not to be that way.

The energies used to create the gateway were unstable, at best, and though Marduk's avatar gave all he had, it could not be held steadily. The elders of the Clan Sitari decided to press onward, and took Engus with them to a new world. The next world was actually a moon orbiting a large planet, larger perhaps than the planet Jupiter. Once they were through the rift, the energies were exhausted and the gateway collapsed upon itself. Clan Sitari found itself far from home, with next to no resources to rebuild their lives. They chose to name their home Tirol, after a city the clan had once lived in on Earth in ancient Africa.

The early months were tough, with some of the clan dying from the alien diseases, and continued problems finding safe drinking water. Raw building materials were not difficult to find, though, as Tirol had vast amounts of stone to build new pyramids and temples. They were able to find food, first by hunting and later by domestication. But the lack of sufficient drinking water made their lives a daily struggle.

Meanwhile, something strange had happened to Engus. The distance from Marduk had separated him from the god's consciousness. He gained sentience of his own and became a living creature on his own. He gained true free will, and with it, was no longer dependent on the powers of Marduk. He seemed to be the same, however, and little was made of the situation by the elders of the Sitari.

Instead, the Sitari elders chose to follow Engus as though he still was the extension of their friend and ally, Marduk, trusting his judgment to guide them. And guide them he did, leading them to new heights. Under his leadership, they were able to find clean water, which allowed them to irrigate their crops and provide drinking water for their poplulation. His powers allowed him to help establish a city, where they created their Royal Hall.

Several millenia later, there would be an increased use of magic on Tirol, with mystic apprenticeships becoming commonplace once more in their culture. One day, however, that would all change.
